I slipped so far

I slipped so far off my good wagon today I am under it and the wheels are rolling over me for good measure. And it was LOVELY!

I had a pants day - nothing new there then - with some very difficult meetings that went on late. So Nij came home and we went out to eat as I was too stressed and knackered to cook. It was all his fault really. I ate things I ought not to have done but loved it. I had chicken stays and pitta bread, salad and a few of Nigel's chops ooops. But he was worse than me. He felt I had had a rotten day ans so even though I ordered orange and lemonade he bought me a huge chilled glass of wonderful chardonnay. And I was cross and loved him all at the same time. So lusciously sinful it was wonderful.
Needless to say I haven't scrapped today but I did at the weekend and this was one of the things I did. Apologise for the tile, but those of you who know me well know it is a typical Dolly title I am sad to say,

The picture was taken on our trip to Longleat last year and it is Rosey who features so much in the Animal Park programme. I love otters and she is just beautiful.

Tomorrow I plan to scrap - ha ha ha who am I kidding!

Just another manic Monday

So – back to the world of madness today eh! Only another 4 days till the weekend though.
I MUST stop wishing my time away.

I had my car MOT’d and serviced today. GULP! No matter how you prepare yourself it comes as quite a shock when the bill comes and to add insult to injury I had to fill her up with petrol on the way home too. I love my little car – I get such a thrill driving her, but if she would just cost me a little less I could learn to love her even more!

I am totally ashamed to say I don’t have a picture of my little metal baby so popped this one off the net as she looks like this one apart from the red seats (mine just has plain black leather) and apart from the fact mine apparently has £1 coins oozing out of the exhaust pipe.

I scrapped very hastily last night using another of Kirsty’s kits. It was a bit bright for me (you know me …. Scared of bright colours) so I desaturated quite a lot of it and then used some jiggery pockery to pop my handsome boy through the frames.

Fiki looks suitably disgusted at being shown on a pink page. He would have looked far happier on the blue and Kira would have suited the pink, but such is life eh! They have to take what comes, as do most of us.

I am doing another Digi CJ. They are great fun and this is my third. This is the page I have made for Mandy for the next round. Her theme was what inspires you and I chose nature as it truly does inspire me.

The pictures are all from Utah which has the most amazing and inspirational scenery ever. It is almost a spiritual experience to see the sights there and I look forward to returning one day to see them all again.

Sunny Sunday

It’s been a beautiful day here today. Well it is Sunday. Sunday’s are always wonderful. Nigel and I went for a long walk along the beach … good for both body and soul. I love the beach in winter far more than in summer.

Today we walked all along the Sandbanks peninsula where some of the most expensive properties in the world – yes the whole world – are. They say that land on the peninsular, per square foot, is some of the most expensive in the world … more expensive than Beverley Hills, Manhattan and Hong Kong.

The views are incredible and there are some pretty amazing houses, but I like our little corner of the south coast here, humble though it may be.

I have also had time to scrap. I have completed a very very different project for me – but I can’t share it I’m afraid. It didn’t work quite as I expected but it is kind of cute. Mel will be the only one who understands that cryptic bit LOL
I also did another page for my 11 x 8.5 travel album. It’s not quite right and needs tinkering with, but it is getting there. I was going for a simple style but haven’t quite managed to pull it off.

I think it one I will go back and tinker with. It is of Snake River bend near Jackson Hole in Grand Teton National Park. We watched the sunrise over the mountains and it was so magical. This was taken about 7 am and we never even saw the puppy dog in the mountain until we came home and looked at the photographs.
Of all the national parks we have visited – and we have been lucky enough to have been to quite a few – Teton was one of the most beautiful with its craggy mountains, the crystal clear lakes, the pine forests and the clear air. And even though we went in the summer, and the guide books warned against the crowds, it was so very very quiet and tranquil.
Pam (sprogpaws) had this list on her blog and has challenged people to join her in making a little mini book with the prompts. I love the idea. Not sure when I will get the time, but I will find it at some point and join her with the mini book. I will change some of the prompts to make them more feasible for scrapping. Thanks Pam – it is a great idea.

A whole new venture

Today marks something of a scrapping milestone for me. When I was sorting out my scrap room as part of my new year purge I came across a new album. An album I so wanted at the time. I saw it and fell in love with it and with the colour of it. It was a K and Co album, pale greens with a leather closure and leather strip down the side of it.
Nothing too unusual about that - except for the format. It was an 11" x 8.5"

I have never ever scrapped this format. I have scrapped 8.5% x 11" but it fraked me out so much the idea of scrapping in a landscape format I just buried the album away.

So my personal New Year challenge - to fill this album this year with pages in a format so alien to me.

I have decided to use it as a travel album, featuring favourite pictures from the many places we have been priviledged to travel. My aim is to do at least one page in this album each week. Means I should finish it easily this year but also gived me leeway for when I fail LOL

I have had fun creating my first page but feel it is not balanced well. I am struggling with the shape.

It is the Caribbean Beach resort in Walt Disney World - one of our favourite holiday destinations. We have been lucky to stay here so many times - and sadly always ask for the same room - 5354 Aruba. We are Disneyholics anyway, but this resort just suits us so well. It is massive, with over 2500 rooms, but you would never know it. Divided into 5 villages, Aruba, Jamaica, Martinque, Barbados and Trinidad, it covers a hige site in small two storey buildings. It makes it feel small and cosy. Each village is coloured differently, Jamaica being the prettiest in my view, with its pale blue and lemon. Aruba, our village, is ice cream colours of pink and blue and turquoise, hence the colours of this page. Every village has its own pool - plus there is a pool at the main complex of Centre Town where the restuarants are. Most days Nigel and I will be the only people at the village pool in Aruba. Families have headed to the parks - we chill out by the pool. It's perfect. I love the ambiance, the colours, the palm tress and the fact it feels so fa,iliar it really is a home from home.
It HAD to be the first page in a travel album - it just had to be.

TGI Friday

No not the meal ... the sentiment!

Well what a week and I am so so so glad it is over. I am absolutely shattered but I am looking forward to relaxing and to scrapping this weekend.
Scrapping is my therapy and boy do I need to scrap. I managed a little bit of scrapping last night – an extremely simple flower page for my ever growing flower album.

The picture was taken just down the road from home last October when I was walking to the Post Office …. You see I DO walk …. Sometimes. I have no idea what the flower or bush was, but it was covered in bees and I watched them gathering for ages.

I have so many flower pictures I must scrap. I am not a gardener … nothing much apart from pine trees, heather, azaleas and rhododendrons grow in our garden and NOTHING grows inside the house … except dust (That seems to grow of its own accord) But I love flowers. I love looking at the details that make them up and the intricacies of them. I love the colours – no matter what colour they are. And I love taking pictures of them. Now I just have to get around to scrapping them all.

Now giving I have had a stressy week I have to share this with you. It is a video someone sent me a link to from You Tube (Love that site so much) and it is one of the best I have seen in a long time. It is quite a long clip so bear with it. It gets better and better (the end section is fab) and I just think it is dead clever. You need the sound up. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It brought a smile to my tired old face.

Ok Go

This is just fabby

Emotionally Drained - but moving on

It is an extremely short entry today as, quite frankly, I am shattered … emotionally and physically. It has been one hell of a day – well one hell of a week actually.
I can’t say today has been horrid because it hasn’t, but you know what it is like when you have to be 110% on top of things, 110% alert and ready for everything, when you rush like crazy whilst trying to appear uber controlled and relaxed and efficient. And you do it on very little food too.
Well today was one of those days and I burst into tears when it was all over. Stupid. It wasn’t horrific at all, but my emotions just gave way.
I have broken my diet – I ate a biscuit and a piece of flapjack so I am mad as hell at myself for that but boy did I need that sugar rush. Plus I plan on breaking it again in the near future as I am having an extremely large glass of wine tonight and I DON’T CARE!

I still haven’t scrapped properly, though I did do this page with Kirsty Wiseman’s free kit (Plus an Atomic Cupcake alphabet)

It allowed me to unwind for half an hour last night whilst sat in front of the TV watching Big Brother and wondering why I was subjecting myself to such drivel!
I didn’t have any snowy pictures on the laptop so it is my precious little wild cat when she was just a baby instead of being something akin to a hulking great lioness. She was such a pretty little thing. She is still pretty now, but Oh how I love that little rounded kitten stage with their short legs, big ears and Winnie the Pooh tummies. I played with the elements for this one, altering them somewhat to fit what I wanted to create and, although it is very quick and simple, I quite like it …. And it is the closest I am going to get to scrapping this week I am afraid.

Finally – thank you to those of you still reading this blog in spite of the fact I have had nothing worthwhile to say for the last week other than rambling drivel.
I will improve …. I promise.
